šŖæGeese have waddled into the aesthetic zeitgeist
In my opinion, it started with the Porch Goose community who I came across on TikTok thanks to the account @thegoosetok. On that account, they have a porch goose that they constantly have āceremoniesā to change the goose into different seasonally and culturally relevant outfits. Looking at social media virality of geese in the past year showcases Geeseās penchant for unapologetically inconveniencing people in an endearing way. Now, weāre seeing the bird appear in the aesthetic zeitgeists especially when it comes to #cottagecore and adjacent trends. But Iām also seeing it in a more playful, fun context alongside the phrase āsilly gooseā nodding to the persona of the animal.
In doing some field research, itās not just geese that are resonating, waterfowl in general are having a bit of a moment. Ducks (and the hunting motif in general) are popular in products aimed at young boys & men and swans are popular in products catered to millennial women.

This one has been building for a while now and semioticians have long been tracking the rise of āGen Z yellowā. The clear trend towards the hue this spring is just the latest signal that the retail sector is adapting their strategies to Gen Z buying power.

šØThe Artist's Way is the new All About Love.
When Doechii won the grammy for best Rap album, it was the ultimate endorsement for The Artist's Way. After all, Doechii had infamously done the workbook and documented the process on YouTube five years earlier. I was one of the people who recently pulled my copy of Julia Cameronās from the shelf where it was gathering dust to make an attempt. If the book helped Doechii win a grammy surely it could at the very least get me to write a particularly inspired short story or two. This book goes viral every few yearsāoften after being seen in the hands of a celebrityābut thatās because itās good. Iām all here for its latest turn in the spotlight and am excited to see many more people find their inner artists.
