Best thing I’ve recently…
read: Convenience Store Woman
This year, I’m making my way through my (rather large) tbr shelf rather than keeping up with the new releases and it’s led me to finally reading gems like Convenience Store Woman. The novel is told from the perspective of Keiko who thrives in the rigid order of her job at a convenience store. As she gets older, she’s faced with increasing social pressure to conform (get a “real” job, get married, etc.) at the expense of her own wellbeing. It’s an interrogation of our devotion to our social scripts and how limiting that actually is, especially for people who don’t “live up” to expectations.
watched: Tate McRae Revolving Door inspired flexes
You’re not going to see my attempt at a standing backbend anytime soon but the Tate McRae-led trend does have me doubling down on my hip flexor mobility exercises. Over on TateTok, I’m seeing amazing recreations of the iconic dance move by the more talented & flexible.
I’m not necessarily on the Tate train yet, but I applaud her foray into the zeitgeist. dance skill (on full display in this music video) and “sports car” has admittedly been pretty inescapable.
listened to: Mayhem by Lady Gaga
Some have accused Lady Gaga of “reheating her own nachos” but I think Mayhem is a return to form, a woman who fancies herself a chameleon has chosen to celebrate her style and musical legacy. Catch me at Coachella with my paws up.
purchased: Leopard Print Mini Skirt
Hopefully while said paws up are up my lower half will be wrapped in the cutest leopard print mini skirt I ever did see. I say hopefully because while the 100% cotton MANGO mini I ordered from Nordstrom is the perfect color, texture and leopard look the size I ordered was not and it has since sold out. Fingers crossed they get more in soon.
been sent: besties Ben & Matt spotted on red carpet
Reddit is the new Twitter. I know that because my friend who used to send me tweets now sends me reddit threads & I am not mad about it. Most recently, she sent me this post from fauxmoi of the men who invented the bromance: Ben Affleck & Matt Damon. The pair were chumming it up on the SXSW Red Carpet at the premier of Ben’s new movie The Accountant 2. Matt leaving the filming of his own huge movie and flying halfway across the world to support Ben could simply be because he’s an executive producer on the film and they’re bros… but it’s more fun to speculate otherwise!
